59. Problems are Timeless

Embrace the Continuity

Introduction

Life often feels like an unending series of problems. We worry about challenges in our careers, relationships, and personal growth, thinking that if we solve these issues, we’ll find peace. But the truth is, problems have always existed. They were there during the time of our forefathers, they are here in our time, and they will continue in the time of our grandkids. Problems are a part of life’s continuity, and no matter how hard we try, they will never completely disappear.

The Reality of Problems: An Ongoing Cycle

There is no “end-all, be-all” solution. The truth is, there is only the problem, and every solution is merely a doorway to a new problem. It’s a cycle. Once you understand this, you start to realize that the problem itself isn’t the issue—our resistance to it is. The moment you accept that problems are an ongoing part of life, the stress and worry they cause begin to lose their grip.

But here’s another layer: You don’t realize you are the creator of the problem. There is no “you,” so there is no problem. The problem starts and ends with you. Sometimes a problem is introduced to you by someone else, and that person may be gone tomorrow, just like you will be someday. In the end, the problem will be “solved” by the reality of impermanence. The real issue isn’t the problem itself—it’s you worrying and grieving over it. Complaining and grieving about problems is the problem. It shows that you’re too caught up in your own mind, unable to accept the reality of life’s impermanence.

Let Go of the Need for a Perfect Solution

Often, we stress over finding the “perfect” solution. But if you accept that every solution is simply another problem waiting to unfold, you free yourself from this illusion. This doesn’t mean you stop solving problems; it means you approach them with a sense of detachment. Solve the issue at hand without the expectation that it will bring everlasting peace or stability.

There is no perfect solution—get yourself and your preconceived ideas out of the way. Your job is to be close to the problem: see it with your own eyes, feel it with your hands, use your own perspective, and hear it from somebody who is closest to it. That’s where the wisdom lies. Don’t listen to the solutions for the problems on your farm from someone sitting far away in DC, and don’t depend on them to solve your problems. Trust your own understanding and experience.

Understanding the Impermanence: Solutions are Temporary

Your solutions are not permanent. Each “solution” you come up with will bring a new set of problems. It’s a never-ending cycle, so instead of stressing about it, just relax. Calm down, play, and enjoy life. Complaining is simply a signal—an indicator that your mindset needs to change. It’s not about the problem; it’s about how you’re reacting to it.

And let’s be honest: complaining often happens during moments of inaction. It’s when you’re not doing anything productive or constructive that you start dwelling on problems. The solution is to engage actively with life and embrace each challenge as it comes, knowing that it’s part of the ongoing flow.

How to Apply This Mindset in Modern Life

  1. Accept Problems as Opportunities for Growth:
    • Instead of seeing problems as interruptions or barriers, view them as opportunities. Every problem is a chance to learn something new, adapt, and grow. The key is to recognize that challenges are inevitable, and resisting them only makes them appear larger than they are. Embrace the problem as a teacher.
  2. Build a Strong Foundation Amidst the Problems:
    • Since problems are an integral part of life’s journey, focus on creating stability and routines that help you navigate through them. Daily habits like exercise, meditation, and spending time with loved ones create a steady foundation. These practices provide consistency and balance, allowing you to face challenges with resilience and clarity.

Conclusion: Embrace the Eternal Dance of Problems and Solutions

Life is an eternal journey, and problems are a constant flow, affecting everyone from our ancestors to our grandchildren. By accepting the timeless nature of problems and understanding that every solution leads to a new problem, we can shift our mindset. We stop resisting and start living with clarity, resilience, and peace.

Remember: when you understand that problems are just part of the flow, the problem itself ceases to be a problem. Complaining is your signal—it’s telling you to change your mindset, get active, and move forward.
